Unless you have been living under a rock, you would of come across the DJI HD system released a couple weeks ago so I will not go into too many details of this. Back when the smart power case was first released, it was very well received – and for good reason! The case offered an unheard of feature for Fatshark goggles: a power button. I know, crazy, right?! Jokes aside – the case allows users to power their goggles with 2 x 18650 cells with no hacking away at stuff or potentially risky soldering – and it has a variety of simple software features (short/high current/low voltage detection, etc.) that make it very appealing.

So, you want to build an FPV racing quadcopter?

Depending on your knowledge level, this will be fun, or a bit like a first date – terrifying, yet belly squirming exciting. Who knows what monster could be released into the world! Will it be evil and fight you every step of the way, or hold your hand through its first baby steps, giggling and loving every second.

If you are shopping for a new set of FPV box goggles, you are probably considering either the new FXT Viper, or the EV900.  Both these goggles are of a new refraction style design that reduces eye strain significantly over traditional box goggles.   In this guide, I will give my opinions on both and also compare them to the current king of box goggles, the EV800D.

If you are like me and wear glasses, it is a bit of a pain when it comes to FPV goggles. You usually need to get diopter lens inserts for the FPV goggles to see them clearly, but then when you take off your FPV goggles you need to fumble around for your glasses before you can see again, not ideal. The simple solution is to wear contact lenses, but this is not practical for everyone. So the last solution is to try to find a set of oversized box goggles and uncomfortably wear your glasses inside them. At least this was the case until the FXT Viper goggles arrived, designed to be worn with glasses. In this article, we will be looking at these new goggles to see if they are any good.

… Two steps back?

The EV900 is the latest iteration released by Eachine into the box-style FPV goggle space – but is it any better than their previous releases, such as the popular EV800D model? Are these finally the no-compromises box goggle we’ve been waiting for? Read on to find out! We’ve included a quick summary for those in a rush, but don’t despair detail-lovers! There’s more below.

When it comes to selecting a receiver module for your FPV goggles, the usual recommendation is to use the True-D or LaForge modules – they offer great performance for a reasonable price. On the budget end you can pick up a Pro58 module from Eachine for much less money (about 1/3 the cost), which is fine, but the problem is that the firmware included with the pro58 (although a lot better than the first versions) is still a bit lacking in terms of both performance and features. However, after you install new firmware onto it, the pro58 can definitely hold it’s own against the more expensive options. This is very impressive considering you could buy 3 Eachine pro58 modules for the cost of a single true-D module!

Drone FPV goggles are one of the most important things when it comes to the FPV experience since you use a pair of goggles to see what your quadcopter sees. Just like most things in the FPV hobby, just because something is expensive, does not make it the best. In this guide, I will help guide you through the process of making the correct decision when it comes to buying yourself a set of FPV goggles.
